Genesis of Program
The Epstein Program in Health Law and Policy is made possible by a gift to the University of Illinois College of Law from Jon David and Beth Epstein. The Program is named for Mr. Epstein, a 1967 graduate of the College of Law and a 1965 graduate of the University of Illinois. Since the early 1970s, Mr. Epstein has limited his practice to health care issues, representing thousands of hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, HMOs, physicians, medical staffs, physical and respiratory entities, and related clients throughout the country. Mr. Epstein has been selected by peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for Healthcare Law since 1995, named a Super Lawyer by the Texas Monthly since 2003, included among Texas Top Lawyers every year since its inclusion of Health Law, and in 2016 was recognized by Martindale-Hubbell for being rated AV Preeminent® for 25 years. Mr. Epstein continues to write about Health Law in a number of forums, including most recently his article, The Government’s Golden Rule: America’s Attempts to Control Health Care Payment, which appeared in 10(3) Journal of Health & Life Sciences Law (2017), the official journal of the American Health Lawyers.
J.D. Epstein is presently Of Counsel at Greer, Herz & Adams, LLP, in Galveston, Texas.
